Understanding how to get the most productive Workout with effective
exercise is another fundamental key to achieving your Fitness Goals.
* When you lift weights, the muscle tissue is stressed.
Over the next few days after a workout, your body then
uses the protein you eat to repair and re-build the
muscles you had worked out, making them even bigger.
When your body is "busy" doing these "repairs", that
also increases your metabolism. That helps aid in
fat-loss.
* Cardio (short for "cardiovascular") is performed so as
to benefit the heart and lung system, and burn up calories.
It is most effective when performed for 20 minutes while the
heart rate is kept at 60% - 80% of your own "target rate".
("Target rate" = 220 minus your age).
* Stretching is also important to perform, particularly for
muscles being worked out by lifting weights.
* Keep a Journal to chart your strength gains and to guide
your next workout.
